EDITORS COMMENTS
In this electrifying image captured by acclaimed photographer David Price, Chuba Akpom of Arsenal FC is seen in full flight during the FA Cup 4th Round match against Brighton & Hove Albion at Amex Stadium on January 25, 2015. The young striker, then aged just 20, was making his mark in the senior team, having come through the ranks at Arsenal's Hale End Academy. The FA Cup, the oldest domestic football competition in the world, is renowned for its giant-killing upsets and underdog stories. In this instance, however, it was Arsenal who were looking to advance, with Akpom leading the line in the absence of the injured Olivier Giroud. The Gunners faced a determined Brighton side, who were riding high in the Championship and eager to cause an upset. Akpom's electrifying pace and skill were on full display as he surged forward, leaving defenders in his wake. His powerful run and determined attitude were a constant thorn in the side of the Brighton defence, and his presence up front provided a constant threat to the home side. Despite the best efforts of the Seagulls, Arsenal eventually emerged victorious, with Akpom playing a crucial role in their 2-1 win. This image encapsulates the excitement and intensity of the FA Cup, as well as the promise and potential of a young player making his mark on the biggest stage of all. The FA Cup 2014/15 was a memorable season for Arsenal, with the team reaching the final before ultimately losing to Aston Villa. For Chuba Akpom, it was a valuable learning experience, one that would stand him in good stead as he continued to develop his career at the Emirates Stadium.
