Imperial Airways Short S8 Calcutta, G-EBVG, City of Alexandria, moored by the Houses of Parliament, August 1928, where it was inspected by many members of both Houses. Powered by three 540hp Bristol Jupiter XIF geared radial engines, the flying boat could accommodate 15 passengers comfortably and included a buffet with necessary equipment for a steward, lavatory, and space for luggage and mail. Accommodation was provided for two pilots side-by-side in an open cockpit in the nose of the hull, a wireless compartment being fitted between the cockpit and the passenger cabin. Date: 1928
